TBS Publishers Distributors known in popular parlance as 'TBS' was founded by Mr. N.E Balakrishna Marar over 52 years ago as the Touring Bookstall which later emerged as the TBS Publishers & Distributors. Kerala. Contrary to the belief the readers went to search for books to bookshops, Mr. Marar reversed the process and took the bookshop to the readers. He used to reach books and periodicals, on cycle to the readers and hence the name Touring Book Stall (TBS). This pioneering customer friendly service was introduced in Calicut when such things were actually unheard of. This innovative approach soon gained tremendous appreciation and it helped the organization to establish a strong base in the field.

The bookshop of TBS is virtually a temple of literary books. Now, with over 50 years of service, TBS Publishers has grown in stature and stands tall amidst the giant book publishers and distributors from the subcontinent. From a small rented building at S.M. Street, Calicut today TBS is at G.H. Road, standing tall with five stories, which is its Head Office. We have been able to achieve all this glory and fame through hard work, dedication, strong will power, and the immense support of lakhs of students, parents, educationists and books readers in Kerala and abroad.

Headquartered at the 5-story building at G.H Road, Calicut in northern Kerala and with branches at principal places like Trichur, Trivandrum and Kottayam in own premises and a network of agents, the marketing channels of TBS covers practically the entire Kerala.

With an aim to start branches all over Kerala, TBS started one of its first branches at Karimpanal Statue Avenue, Trivandrum, which was inaugurated by the then Kerala Assembly Speaker Sri. M. Vjaykumar. Ex. Chief Minister Sri. P. K. Vasudevan Nair lighted the Badra Deepum.

TBS opened its second books shop branch in M.G.Road, Trissur. It has also a branch at Kottayam, which is functioning as the Regional Publication Office. TBS also has Books Stall in Calicut, Court Road, the first of theirs in Calicut. TBS has opened its latest knowledge mall at Kannur in a sprawling 6000 Sq. Ft. show room.

TBS is the biggest bookstore in Calicut sourcing text books in School and college level, Engineering, Medicine, Management, Computer, Science, Languages etc. TBS is also a one stop shop for all types of lab equipments, chemicals for colleges, for industries, computer peripherals, stationery, sports goods and gift items.

POORNA Publications was established as the sister concern of TBS. Customers from other states and overseas also turn to TBS and Poorna to meet their needs.
